Over the last three months, I’ve lost ten pounds. TEN POUNDS. As someone who has been looking for ways to feel more confident and maybe lose some weight along the way for years, this has been a major break through. I don’t like to use these words too often, but Noom has changed my life.
Because I’ve had such a phenomenal experience with Noom, I wanted to get involved. I think anyone (EVERYONE) who is wanting to change their behavior, see lasting results on their bodies, and just feel better should try out this program. I am partnering with Noom to help spread the word! If you’d like to give this awesome app a try, you can sign up for a free 14 day trial right here.
What is Noom?
Noom is a weight loss tracker, but it’s also a lot more than that. It has some of the standard features like tracking your weight and calories, but the part that really changed the game for me were the articles. Each day, Noom has a short line-up of articles, and every one is full of tips not only for how to lose weight, but how to have the mindset for change. I’ve learned SO MUCH about why I struggle with losing weight and making better food choices. I’ve learned some great tips for how to prime my body to succeed by understanding what’s going on in my mind using Noom #PsychTips.
Focus on Calorie Density
As an approach to calories, Noom is not restrictive. The people at Noom are absolutely not saying there are things you can or can’t eat – but they’re going to teach you how your choices can impact not just your calorie count, but the way you feel and how hungry you are. One of the first things you’ll learn is the concept of calorie-density. An example of calorie density is choosing between eating 100 calories of raisins versus 100 calories of grapes – which one will make you feel more full?
The grapes! You can eat a ton more grapes and your stomach will notice. Noom helps us learn how to make better food choices that will both keep you feeling satisfied and help keep your calorie count in check.
#PsychTricks
Noom uses science and psychology to help guide you through making small changes that work for you (not anyone else!) and that will help you see results based on these small intentional actions. Your thoughts have a huge impact on weight loss success. The little voice in your head that is convinced you’re going to fail? Yeah, that guy. With Noom, you’ll learn to identify those whispers as thought distortions and they’ll help you come up with strategies to combat them and stay on track.
Change Your Behaviors, Gradually
Making too many changes all at once can be overwhelming. It may lead to some quick results, but weight lost because you made unsustainable changes to your diet are just that – unsustainable. Your Noom coach will teach you simple changes, substitutions and small thing to try out, and then you can decide which ones work for you. These small changes are more easy to commit to, and that little voice in your head will barely notice they’re happening until suddenly it’s part of your daily routine! Noom showed me how I could make change that I feel like I can maintain over the long-term.
Slips & Surges
The path of your health journey will not be a straight one. Just like with everything else in life, sometimes things are going great and things feel easy, and sometimes it really really doesn’t. This is where my favorite messaging from the Noom app comes in – that’s okay. It’s actually really important that we do fail sometimes! Because when you fail, you have an opportunity to learn the most effective habit there is. Keep trying, be generous with yourself and accept that sometimes you can’t control everything and that you are only human. But, the next day, just get right back to it.
